American computer scientist and author (born 1982) who writes about focus, craftsmanship, and a saner relationship with technology. His books — Deep Work, So Good They Can't Ignore You, and Digital Minimalism — argue that distraction-free concentration is an increasingly rare and valuable skill, and that "follow your passion" is bad advice next to patiently building rare and valuable career capital. He is the blog's central reference for deep work, productivity, and a deliberate resistance to the attention economy and minimalism applied to one's digital life. His emphasis on skill acquisition over raw motivation makes him a natural companion to the FIRE and optionality literature.
